Tire rotation

Your Trusted Auto Repair Shop: A Mobile Mechanic

A vehicle tire rotation service is the practice of moving tires from one position on a vehicle to another—such as front-to-back or diagonally—to ensure even tread wear, prolong tire life, and improve handling. It is a critical maintenance service usually performed every 5,000–8,000 miles to prevent premature tire replacement.

Key Aspects of Tire Rotation Service

  • Purpose: Distributes wear evenly among all four tires (and sometimes the spare) because front and rear tires wear differently due to steering and driving force.
  • Service Components: Often includes inspecting tires for damage, checking air pressure, and tightening lug nuts to correct torque specifications.
  • TPMS Reset: Technicians may need to reprogram the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) so it correctly recognizes the new tire positions.
  • Examples of Rotation Patterns: Common patterns include Forward Cross (front-wheel drive), Rearward Cross (rear/four-wheel drive), or side-to-side for directional tires.
